About

Thanks for taking a look at my blog. Tor Sulis Crafts is all about my daily attempts at making a variety of items, with plenty of pictures of the process as well as the finished pieces. Where possible I also add tutorials, my own pattern designs and links to instructions and information from other sites that I have found particularly useful.

I'm currently living in England, although often have itchy feet and like to travel new places! My other home is California where I have lived on and off for the last few years and return regularly. Many of my family live in Germany and I love to visit. My main loves are my boyfriend, family and our ShihTzu puppy Betty. We live on the South Coast and enjoy getting out on the beach and into the countryside as much as possible. We have been here about a year which has helped inspire me to become very interested in interior design and crafting items for our home. I adore handcrafts particularly needlework, and my favourite at present is crochet- it's so addictive! I also love sewing, embroidery, knitting and felting. For future plans I would love to try weaving on a loom, but that will have to wait as I currently have so many projects on the go!

My mum has been dedicated to crafts for many years and continually inspires and helps me with my own projects. She has taught me sewing, crochet, embroidery, knitting and also cooking and baking for as long as I can remember and is an absolute font of knowledge where these (and many other things!)are concerned. Many of the projects on this site will have had input from my mother, and a few of her own creations are also featured. The burgundy, orange and pink themed granny square blanket which serves as the background of the blog was made by my mother as a present for me when I first moved away from home to go to university. I adore this blanket, the use of colour is incredible and its is a gorgeous, soft, beautifully made piece. To me it embodies exactly what crafting is all about - creating a unique item which will be treasured by someone you love, and provide comfort and happy memories for years to come.

Another enthusiasm I have is for Doll Art. I customise Blythes and Pullips as well as creating new dolls from a variety of mediums such as polymer clay and cloth. Aside from handicrafts I love reading for as many hours as I can find! I also enjoy gardening, baking and winding down with music, telly or a movie.

I love hearing from like-minded craft lovers so please don't hesitate to send an email or tweet!

Thanks for taking the time to visit,

Tor x
